The reason why staff are dreading going back into work tomorrow…

I’ve just come off a call with a mum who works in a top law firm explaining ‘off the record’ that she is dreading going back to work:

‘Having the break from work over the Christmas period has reminded me of the importance of play and connection with my family. I know that I will remember the hour or so I spent playing Minecraft with my son last night a lot more than the time when I handed him a puzzle when I was working from home and said ‘Go and play,’ but tomorrow, I’m faced with a massive caseload and will be juggling work and family life once again.’

‘It’s not just the fact that I know I played with him, after discovering the importance of play through your parenting Mastermind I did with you Debi.

It’s the feeling of joy, wonder, and connection I experienced.

I felt happier!

In fact, I enjoyed myself so much that instead of spending the hour I promised I spent 2 hours playing and building with him. I loved it!’

These are the stories I want to hear about in 2022.

Stories of parents who understand the importance of play not just developmentally for their children but for their own overall wellbeing.

Adults need to play too!

Did you know that Play is scientifically proven to improve the wellbeing of your staff and will ultimately improve productivity and staff retention in the process?

I want there to be a shift in our mindset towards widening our understanding around how we can incorporate a wide range of playful activities into our lives even throughout our working day whatever our age and cultural background.

If we continually separate work from play instead of finding ways of incorporating opportunities for play during the day then the workforce suffers.

If we can shift our mindset from ‘Too busy to play’ to ‘TOO BUSY NOT TO PLAY,’ then the overall health and wellbeing of the workforce improves.

I offer a simple way of educating staff about the importance of play and how this can be incorporated and able to create a sustainable work/life balance, or work/play balance through educating staff in a non-judgemental, bite-sized, engaging way.

To find out more about my training session that you can fit into any company’s busy schedule then get in touch. We can then chat about how you can incorporate more of a play-based culture within your company and tailor something that works for you.

Here’s to a more playful 2022.
